The port of New Orleans made coffee important to the city as a commodity. The early French founders had their own methods for roasting dark, rich coffee. Café du Monde's French Roast coffee is full bodied and flavorful without the chicory.
Secrets to a great cup:
- Great tasting water. After all, coffee is 99% water.
- Keep hot coffee in a vacuum pot, and no longer than 2-4 hours to retain the aroma.
- Use only ceramic, porcelain or glass brewing pot and mugs. Metal will give a strong metallic taste to your coffee.
- Don't reheat coffee. This will turn the coffee very bitter.
